The WYC Comp Teams will practice on Thursdays from September 6 through November 1 from 6:00 - 8:00 at Westview. They will have tumbling classes at Styleshock Cheer and Dance. (The tumbling class fee will be billed directly to each Fire team member ($35 a month).

The week of November 5th, practices will switch to two days per week. They will most likely be Mondays and Thursdays at Westview with the times still T.B.D. *(our winter practice space schedule is still being negotiated so the practice days for Winter may change)

Choreography will be Sunday, September 30th @ Styleshock. Choreography is mandatory. Choreography will be from 9-3. Please have your cheerleader pack a lunch!

FINANCIAL INFORMATION:

Expenses:

The tentative expense per cheerleader will depend on how many kids we have in the program. The estimated cost to be on a WYC Comp Team is between $495.00 (40 members) and $645.00 (25 members). This will cover the following expenses:

Practice Shirts (2)
Competition T-shirt
Competition Bow
Competition Bodyliner
Competition Shoes
Competition Jacket
Team Expenses (Liability Insurance, Coaches Ed, etc.) Coaches Pay

Competition Entry Fees

Choreography & Music
Fire will be expected to participate in a mandatory tumbling class once per week. This will be set up through the WYC Board and be a separate/additional expense.

We are currently negotiating with the BSD regarding charges for building use for the upcoming season. Based on what they decide, there will most likely be an additional charge to rent space at Westview for Youth practices. This will also be set up through the WYC Board and be a separate/additional expense.
After the team is selected on August 23rd and we have our confirmed numbers, we will email out the cost per cheerleader.

You will have a $100.00 deposit due at our first practice on September 6th. That payment will be payable to "Westview Cheer"

Your remaining balance will be due in November after WYC has completed their fundraising which will help you to offset your expenses. Please note that no scholarships are available. Payment plans will be available if needed.

Competitive Cheer Information

  • For the past 5 years, many of our participants have extended their cheer season by joining the Youth Competitive Squad. Participants practice several days a week and perform at cheerleading competitions.
  • In our first year, we began with 11 participants and now we have approximately 1/2 of our recreational participants involved!
  • The participants learn complex choreography and stunts which are fun, challenging and help prepare youth cheerleaders for High School Cheer. Some minimal travel is required although typically competitions have been within 50 miles.
  • 2018-19 compettion cheer season will begin in September and run through February.

  • There are additional fees required to be part of the competitive squad. Competitive cheer practices begin in September. Competitions normally begin in December and end in mid-Febrary.
  • Your child must participate in the Westview Youth sideline cheer program (Recreational Cheerleading) to be eligible for the Competitive Team.
  • This year we are excited to be hosting two teams!
